I have been obsessed with the garden project. Everyone thinks I am unaware of how obsessed I have become but that is not true. I am aware. My hands have a permanent layer of soil and fertiliser on them, and all I think about is flowers, fertiliser and soil moisture levels. This week I faced a particularly difficult dilemma with a patch of my garden that just wasn’t getting enough water or light. No matter what I tried nothing would grow. I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to reroute the irrigation to weight it more towards the bad patch but I couldn’t find the right balance. So I took a different strategy and decided to look into drought resistant flowering plants. That’s when I found it, the perfect solution, Agapanthus. They are rather beautiful and come in a range of colours, and they are perfect for filling in difficult spots in the garden.
I went for the Agapanthus cascade diamond as they develop a slight pink tinge as they get older, it reminded me of myself in my old age. With the Agapanthus sorted I could turn my attention to the struggling tomatoes. I am developing my own compost mix that should do the trick but while it’s still brewing I am having to apply some short term measures. Including following the sunlight around the yard to keep the tomatoes constantly bathing in the rays. I am considering purchasing some back up Agapanthus in case I uncover anymore shady spots that struggle to produce anything else. The great thing about Agapanthus is I can order it online and it comes already planted in little pots that I can just dig into my beds. It makes it so easy being able to order things online, I don’t have to do countless trips to the garden center when I change my mind every ten minutes.
