Lights certainly are lovely. I recently stumbled across a video online that perfectly explained why humans are afraid of the dark, and it all spoke to my experience pretty well. Apparently, ten percent of adults have an irrational fear of the dark, AND it’s not such a bad thing because the dark is mysterious and potentially dangerous.
In fact, I’ve customised my business to make it perfect for anyone with my tendencies. All that research I poured into industrial lighting in Melbourne finally paid off, because there is not a single corner of my office that isn’t brightly lit. Multi-directional lighting, my friends! All visitors are provided with sunglasses, because I can understand that you might not be used to this level of lumens. Yes, I know, it’s not meant to be like this in an office. The industrial lighting I have here is meant for…well, large factories. But still, you could easily say I have industrial-level needs. You would think with all that lighting that my power costs would be astronomical, but that simply isn’t the case. I had all the lights in the office replaces with LEDs to save on power costs. I’m even thinking of getting solar panels installed on the roof to maximise my energy savings.
The only thing that I find a little concerning is the lack of proper sleep. All that light, even at night-time…well, my body clock has pretty much forgotten how to work properly. I don’t really sleep much any more; mostly I just rest, with my eyes closed. Sometimes I have weird light hallucinations which I’m told is not normal. Actually, that’s all the time, but I’ve learned to ignore it for the most part.
The main thing is that I now have Melbourne’s best LED lighting decking out my office. No more darkness, ever! Unless I go out at night. But why would I ever do that?
