It’s not every day that my family is able to have a careers expo right in the middle of their mansion. Usually we’re very careful about inviting outsiders in, with their memory mostly being wiped via hypnosis techniques. However, our grandparents have assured us that everyone who enters our sacred grounds will have their memory wiped, so I guess that means it must be fine.
Anyway, we’re getting some people in from multiple industries to come and set up shop in the foyer so that they may teach us about various life skills. I’m personally quite interested in the work of glaziers and installers of glass balustrades, simply because we didn’t have them back in our home country. Glass was considered to be a modern invention with no value, so we had no windows and the winter winds would howl through. Supposedly this would make us stronger, with our will as solid as ice, but it actually was just really, really cold. Often when we would go on assignments, we’d infiltrate places with windows and I would be rather jealous of the insulation provided by a quality residential glazier.
The elders have assured us that this is all in service of teaching us ways we may circumvent certain industries and perform our duties more efficiently, but with all the sentiment going around at the moment with members of the family wanting to settle down and maybe do a bit less travelling, I can’t imagine that isn’t on everyone’s minds. Besides, it all seems a bit vindictive, to invite people in to talk about their jobs in order to exploit them. We may perform stealthy acts from the shadows, but we’re not mean.
I’m actually going to learn about the the job of a commercial glazier, not attempt to steal their secrets. I mean…it’s glazier work. Their job couldn’t be more transparent.
