Finally, I am about to pull off the biggest deal of my professional, and strictly speaking personal, life. I can’t believe it. Two years ago I was jobless, living with my parents and pretty miserable. Then I stumbled across an amazing investment opportunity and I’m on the brink of making 300% profit. I saw a run down building on the edge of the city that was pretty much derelict. I drew up plans for what it could be, presented it to some rich dudes I used to go to school with and boom two years later, I am picking out furniture for show apartments for a major development of residential housing. I am meeting with the property styling designers this afternoon to go over the final touches for how we want to present the range of apartments. We already have a lot of interested buyers looking into the 1 and 2 bedroom apartments but it’s going to be slightly harder to shift the larger units.
Generally young families prefer to live in houses and wouldn’t look twice at a high rise building, but that’s where the interior styling comes in. We want to offer the house experience, with all the safety of an apartment block at an affordable rate. Decorating for families is trickier than it sounds because you want to highlight lots of space for kids to occupy, their accessories and all, but at the same time families love ‘cosy’. We are going to get properly styling for auction for the old house so we can create a lived in look for the show apartments. I have even gone as far as to talk to psychologists about the right colours to attract buyers in different demographic groups. Apparently yellow screams family, blue screams young people, red screams retirement. We are going for neutral tones so people can apply their own ideas when they walk in and see the place!
