I’ve messed up. Bad. I had a party behind my parents’ back whilst they were away and our window was cracked in the process. I saw the entire situation unfold and it was a disaster. My best friend had just won his third game of beer pong in a row, and decided to pop open a celebratory bottle of champagne. Well, the man clearly doesn’t know how to open a bottle correctly because it popped two metres across the room into the splashback behind the sink.
Mum had literally just got the splashback done to treat herself last month, and had been raving about how much sunlight and positive energy it added to the kitchen. I was seriously screwed in that moment. The whole event felt like it had occurred in slow motion. Even my intoxicated best friend knew that things had gone horribly wrong. A big crack right in the middle of the splashback. It was obvious and it needed to be fixed.
This all occurred on Saturday night, and my parents were due to arrive home the following Wednesday. That meant I had two working days get the splashback fixed. I needed a repair service pronto. That was all I could think about for the rest of the night. My mate and I were on our phones straight away searching for places. The party was unfolding around us and we were no longer a part of it. Every aspect of our focus was dedicated to finding the best glass repair service around Melbourne. Our main criteria for determining the best repair service was literally how fast they could get to my house Monday morning.
The stress of Saturday night transcended through to Monday when the glazier finally arrived. Thankfully, all was fixed by Wednesday morning when my parents arrived home. It was profoundly stressful until then… I don’t think I’ll be throwing a party any time soon. Imagine if something had happened to the glass balustrade as well. My goodness.
