Can I just begin this blog post by saying how good is working from home! Obviously the circumstances in which everyone was sent home almost a year ago are tragic, but the actual working from home part is awesome. I feel like working from home has given me so much more of a balanced life, and here’s a prime example as to why.
Last week I was going for my regular lunchtime run. This is something that I’ve done every day since my company began working from home, and it has improved my quality of life tenfold. I’ve lost eight kilos and it means I have more free time after work because I don’t have to spend any extra time exercising.
However, last week for the first time ever I ran into a bit of trouble. I started feeling pain as I was running, and decided pretty quickly that it was athlete’s foot. I’ve never had athlete’s foot before, but I’ve also never run this much before. I stopped my run at that moment and leisurely strolled back to my home office.
I gave my feet a couple of days to rest over the weekend, but they didn’t feel better. I knew that meant that I’d have to get my feet checked out by a foot specialist. Cheltenham, where I live, actually has one nearby. I decided to book an appointment with one of the podiatrists on my lunch break, which is something I never would have been able to do if I was working in the office.
My appointment is next week as they were booked out this week. I’ll update you all on what the diagnosis is once I get it. I’m so glad that I work from home so that this could be possible. I guess if I wasn’t working from home I wouldn’t have gotten athlete’s foot in the first place, but it’s the opportunities that working from home brings.
