I’ve hit that wall. Not a real wall; a wall made of Christmas…break. It’s one of the twelve walls of Christmas, and I just can’t do anything anymore. That’s what I get for working 45 hours a week, pretty much every day this year, and never making time for anything except the essentials. Man, imagine if I had a family…or a girlfriend. Those things are total time sinks. I feel like I spend too much time on my cat, and he’s a cat. Like, he doesn’t even like me that much. Only wants pets every other day. I’m working on it.
The good thing about working that much for a decent-paying job, along with never really going out, is that I can spend money on things that save time. I could probably do my own aircon regas, but it might be better to get a professional air conditioning regas in the Benteligh area. Why not?
And if I want to have someone actually come and pick up my car to come and do repairs or whatever, then I can because I know I’m supporting local businesses by paying a little bit more. And I’m not really losing out, I guess. Time is money.
We need to use local businesses before they disappear, that’s always what people say. Otherwise it all just becomes big franchises, and that little guy playing hours of Over-Botch each days with dreams of owning a little mechanic garage somewhere gets stuffed over by life. No little garage, because all of them are big. No homespun car advice, because the era of homespun car advice is over. No more little guy.
There, so I’m doing my part. Use services even if they cost a little more, and use the upmarket services because you’re giving back even more to the community. Take the advice of the mechanics open in Bentleigh. Otherwise it’s all corporate, and I know first-hand that it can be pretty soul draining when your whole life is corporate. Maybe I’ll take that Christmas break after all.
